Director of People and Culture

About the role

This senior position will shape the employee experience and culture across three Accor‑brand hotels in Darwin. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the People & Culture function, guiding department heads and ensuring a thriving, Heartist‑focused workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Create and execute a resort‑wide People & Culture strategy that nurtures the Heartist culture.
• Oversee recruitment, retention and workforce planning in line with operational needs and Accor guidelines.
• Manage and develop the People & Culture Coordinator, building capability for day‑to‑day HR operations.
• Partner with senior leaders on organisational structure, resourcing and performance management.
• Ensure consistent induction, on‑the‑job training and probation reviews for all new hires.
• Coach supervisors and managers on performance conversations, workplace relations and difficult discussions.
• Handle employee and industrial relations matters proactively, maintaining accurate documentation.
• Analyse Employee Engagement Survey results and drive targeted improvement initiatives.
• Lead reward, recognition, wellbeing, talent management and leadership development programmes.
• Maintain compliance training records and produce monthly HR reports for the region.

Required profile

• Commercially minded HR leader with a passion for hospitality culture.
• Proven experience coaching senior managers and handling complex employee relations.
• Strong communication, influencing and mentoring abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement HR strategies in a multi‑brand resort environment.
