Developer Programmer (Financial Services)

About the role

Synechron is seeking experienced Developer Programmers to join its Sydney team, delivering technology solutions for the banking, finance and payments industry. You will work on core payment platforms, translating business requirements into robust, maintainable code.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret specifications, technical designs and flow‑charts to build, maintain and modify software applications.
• Research, analyse and evaluate system program needs and identify technology limitations.
• Test, debug, diagnose and correct errors within established testing protocols and quality standards.
• Write and maintain program code in line with system designs, technical specifications and accredited standards.
• Produce and update technical documentation, end‑user guides and operational procedures.
• Provide advice on software design proposals, financial evaluation and costing for upgrades or new purchases.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in IT or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of development or support experience in financial services, banking, cards or payments.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• Strong business orientation combined with a solid IT background.

Required skills

• VisionPLUS or CardPac credit‑card processing systems.
• Payments platforms such as SWIFT, New Payment Platform (NPP) or ISO 20022.
• Experience with transaction switches like Postilion, Connex, Base24 or ATM systems.
• API development and integration.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex software issues.
