Desktop Support Officer – Sydney

About the role

AARNet is looking for a motivated Desktop Support Officer to join its Chatswood office in Sydney. You will provide first‑line IT support across Windows, macOS and mobile platforms, helping staff stay productive in a fast‑paced research environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver telephone, face‑to‑face and remote desktop support to end‑users.
• Set up and maintain laptops, desktops, mobiles, servers and peripherals.
• Administer Microsoft 365 tools and manage device provisioning via Intune and Jamf.
• Log, track and resolve incidents in the ITSM ticketing system.
• Escalate complex issues to Level 2/3 teams or external vendors as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of assets, incidents, requests, problems and changes.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship (mandatory).
• Ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of users.
• Proactive attitude with strong attention to detail.
• Capacity to prioritize workload in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• Microsoft Desktop products (Windows 10/11).
• macOS and iOS devices.
• Active Directory and Exchange administration.
• Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).
• Collaboration tools: Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Teams.
• Microsoft Intune and Jamf for device deployment and management.
• Microsoft 365 administration.
