Desktop Specialist – Onsite IT Support

About the role

The Desktop Specialist will provide on‑site IT support across multiple Australian locations. You will be responsible for installing, moving, adding, changing and decommissioning desktop and laptop hardware, as well as delivering first‑line troubleshooting for both Windows and macOS environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform IMAC/D (Install, Move, Add, Change, Decommission) tasks for desktops, laptops and peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware break‑fix issues, coordinating with vendors when required.
• Provide desk‑side support for authorized operating systems and applications.
• Manage spare parts inventory at dedicated sites.
• Support printers and coordinate with managed print service providers.
• Set up new hires with Windows, Mac and Linux devices.
• Execute tech refresh projects, upgrading laptops and desktops.
• Collect and track assets, and make procurement recommendations.
• Assist L2 teams with hands‑on support in server rooms and data centres.

Required profile

• Minimum 18 months of professional IT experience.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the local language.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work and meet service level agreements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows 7‑10, Windows XP/8.1 and Microsoft Office 365/2010.
• Active Directory, Group Policy Objects and PC/laptop management via AD.
• PC hardware installation, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
• Enterprise antivirus solutions and help‑desk ticketing systems.
• Mobile device management for iOS and Android, and enterprise encryption tools.
• Basic macOS support for Apple users.
• Printer support and diagnostic tools for network and workstation issues.
