Cyber Security Engineer – Healthcare IT

About the role

Serco is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to protect the ICT systems, data and digital assets of Fiona Stanley Hospital, one of Australia’s most advanced healthcare environments. You will work closely with the Cyber Security Manager and the broader ICT team to design, implement and maintain robust security solutions that enable safe, reliable patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage advanced security technologies such as firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, vulnerability‑management tools and proxies.
• Integrate and maintain security tools across on‑premises and cloud platforms.
• Identify optimisation opportunities for existing security solutions to maximise investment value.
• Ensure compliance with ACSC Essential 8, ASD ISM and other Australian governance standards.
• Embed security controls into applications and cloud environments throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support Security Analysts, act as an escalation point and help strengthen SOC capabilities.
• Collaborate with IT, network and development teams to deliver secure, resilient solutions.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Serco’s cybersecurity governance framework.

Required profile

• Cloud security certifications (mandatory).
• Deep understanding of firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS and endpoint protection technologies.
• Proven experience in cyber security, vulnerability management and risk mitigation.
• Experience with Network Identity and Access Management tools (highly desirable).
• Knowledge of governance frameworks such as NIST CSF, ASD ISM, ACSC Essential 8 and ISO 27001.
• Preferred certifications in security toolsets, ITIL Foundation and/or CCNA Security.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
