Cyber Security Analyst

About the role

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is seeking skilled Cyber Security Analysts to join its Security and Network Operations Centre (SNOC). You will help protect the availability, integrity and security of critical policing systems and services across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Support and mentor junior staff to build operational capability.
• Monitor SIEM tools and other security and network monitoring platforms for threats, faults and performance issues.
• Detect, triage, investigate and respond to cyber security incidents and network events in real time.
• Escalate incidents to the Hunt and Incident Response team according to severity and playbooks.
• Escalate significant network performance issues to the Network Operations team for remediation.
• Correlate security alerts with network and infrastructure telemetry to provide comprehensive visibility.

Required profile

• Passionate about cyber defence with a strong team‑oriented mindset.
• Experience in security monitoring, incident detection and response within a SOC or similar environment.
• Ability to work under pressure, make sound decisions and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SIEM tools.
• Experience using network monitoring platforms.
• Incident detection, triage and response capabilities.
• Security alert correlation across network and infrastructure telemetry.
