Cyber Security Analyst – Canberra (Australian Citizens Only)

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to join the Cyber Services Section in Canberra. The successful candidate will design, implement and optimise Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) capabilities to strengthen the department’s cyber security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and configure SIEM solutions to ingest, normalise and correlate security events from diverse sources.
• Monitor and analyse alerts to identify potential threats and support incident response activities.
• Ensure compliance with Australian government security frameworks such as the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Essential Eight.
• Collaborate with Cyber Security Operations teams to improve detection rules and reporting.
• Document processes, procedures and findings for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and residency in Canberra.
• Relevant experience in cyber security operations or SIEM management.
• Understanding of government security standards and compliance requirements.

Required skills

• Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
• Threat detection and incident response techniques.
• Knowledge of PSPF, ISM and the Essential Eight controls.
