About the role
Law360 Australia is building a fast‑paced legal news service and needs a skilled copy editor to shape its quality and voice. You will work closely with reporters to edit and publish breaking legal, regulatory and business stories for a professional audience.
Key responsibilities
- Edit daily news stories for accuracy, clarity, structure and readability.
- Correct factual, grammatical, spelling and stylistic errors.
- Write engaging headlines tailored to lawyers, business leaders and regulators.
- Ensure articles adhere to Law360’s editorial standards and house style.
- Apply sound news judgement, prioritising important breaking stories.
- Identify and flag potential legal, ethical or editorial risks.
- Provide constructive feedback to reporters and help develop newsroom style guidance.
Required profile
- 2 to 6 years of professional copy‑editing experience, preferably in a deadline‑driven news environment.
- Strong grammar, spelling and headline‑writing skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to spot factual inconsistencies and exercise sound editorial judgement.
- Confidence to work independently and make editing decisions.
- Strong organisational skills to manage competing deadlines.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience; prior reporting experience is a plus.
