About the role

The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) is seeking a senior leader to head its Information and Technology Directorate. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Strategy and Corporate Services, the CIO will join the Executive Leadership Team and shape the strategic direction of ICT across the department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and delivery of integrated ICT services and solutions that support operational and organisational capability.
• Manage all operational and financial aspects of the directorate, including budgeting, staffing, resources, systems and processes.
• Oversee ICT governance, portfolio management, project assurance and transformation programmes aligned with Queensland Government direction.
• Ensure compliance with legislative and corporate‑governance requirements.
• Contribute to the department’s overall strategic planning and executive decision‑making.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in senior ICT leadership or management roles.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of ICT governance, portfolio and project management within a public‑sector environment.
• Ability to align technology strategy with government policies and organisational objectives.
