About the role
SMEC is seeking an experienced Associate/Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its Brisbane team, focusing on water infrastructure projects. The role involves design, analysis, and project management across a range of water‑related assets.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse project information, produce designs and calculations for water infrastructure, pump stations, pipelines and river intakes.
- Contribute to bid preparation and provide technical input across disciplines.
- Ensure designs meet technical standards, client requirements and SMEC guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to deliver quality, timely project deliverables.
- Support the commercial success of projects and mentor junior engineers.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and RPEQ registration.
- 10+ years of design experience in water infrastructure, including pump stations, pipelines, river intakes and STP projects.
- Experience in an engineering design consultancy and strong client‑relationship skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency with HAMMER, Water/Sewer GEMS, AutoCAD, Strand7 and AutoPIPE.
- Knowledge of WSA/SEQ code, AWWA codes and relevant Australian standards.
