About the role
The City of Bunbury is seeking a Youth Development Officer to lead and coordinate programs that empower young people aged 12‑25. This fixed‑term position runs until February 2027 and focuses on creating inclusive, impactful opportunities for youth to develop skills and influence community decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Design, deliver and evaluate youth‑focused programs and engagement activities.
- Coordinate the Youth Advisory Council, handling administration, facilitation and member development.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase youth participation in council matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, youth groups, community organisations, service providers and other local governments.
- Identify emerging trends, opportunities and gaps affecting young people in the community.
- Support youth leadership through mentoring, training and professional development.
- Create pathways for young people to contribute to decision‑making and community outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for local youth.
Required profile
- Passionate about supporting young people and fostering inclusive community engagement.
- Strong communicator and relationship‑builder with experience working with diverse groups.
- Proactive, community‑focused mindset with excellent organisational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
