Womenswear Designer – Myer Exclusive Brand BLAQ

About the role

Myer Group is looking for a senior Womenswear Designer to lead the design direction of its exclusive brand BLAQ. You will translate trend research into commercial collections, working from concept through to production while collaborating closely with the Head of Design and buying team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute design concepts for BLAQ, creating mood boards, colour stories and print research aligned with the brand DNA.
• Produce detailed design packs, technical specifications and artwork using CAD and illustration tools for garment vendors.
• Conduct trend research with a commercial focus and adapt international trends for the Australian market.
• Source new fabrics, trims and finishes, and work with buyers to elevate product quality, sampling and pricing.
• Maintain range boards, flow boards and visual assets for range review meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in fashion design or product development, preferably in womenswear.
• Tertiary qualification in fashion design or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong commercial awareness of market, customer segmentation and competitive landscape.
• Deep understanding of garment construction, fabric properties and finishing techniques.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD for apparel design.
• Illustration skills for creating original artwork.
• Advanced use of Adobe Illustrator.
• Graphic design abilities for print and visual development.
