Wind Farm Field Service Technician - Boco Rock NSW

About the role

Boco Rock Wind Farm, located about 10 km south-west of Nimmitabel and 30 km north of Bombala in NSW, is looking for a Field Service Technician. The farm has 67 GE 1.7-100 turbines operating since 2015 and generating up to 113 MW of clean energy. You will maintain and troubleshoot wind turbines at the site. This is not a FIFO or DIDO role and must be based locally to the wind farm.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on turbines and site infrastructure
• Follow GE manuals, specifications and work instructions for tasks and inspections
• Carry out maintenance, fault finding and high voltage switching operations as required
• Take part in annual maintenance, retrofit works, major component exchanges and fault finding
• Use GE software tools to maintain reports and submit technical queries
• Comply with JSA, LOTO and EHS policies and report issues promptly
• Decide on conformance or non-conformance after inspections and report errors, violations and incidents through GE reporting systems
• Work a 37.5-hour week with possible overtime, and join on-call rosters for after-hours or weekend work

Required profile

• Qualified electrician or mechanical trade certification
• Current unrestricted driver's licence
• Comfortable working at heights and climbing turbines
• Commitment to safety standards, high performance and continuous improvement
• Independent, solutions-focused and well organised
• Open to travel to other sites as required
• Must hold appropriate working rights for Australia at the time of application
• Previous experience in renewables, power distribution, mining, oil and gas or other heavy industry preferred but not essential

Required skills

• Fault finding on electrical, mechanical and hydraulic equipment
• Use of computer systems and tools for monitoring work and managing documentation
• Strong written and verbal English
• Preferred: GWO Basic Training, High Voltage Switching Operations, HRWL including dogging, rigging, forklift and EWP (training may be provided)
