Welfare Assistant

About the role

Join Sea World’s Marine Animal Team as a Welfare Assistant and help maintain the highest standards of care and cleanliness across our animal exhibits. While you won’t handle the animals directly, your work ensures a safe, vibrant environment for both the marine residents and our guests.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily cleaning and sanitation of animal areas, food preparation spaces, and equipment following strict hygiene protocols.
• Assist with exhibit upkeep, including landscaping, pool maintenance, and general repairs to keep displays pristine.
• Prepare and deliver approved enrichment items that stimulate curiosity and wellbeing among the animals.
• Maintain accurate records of cleaning, maintenance, and enrichment activities.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures to protect animals, team members, and visitors.
• Support the Marine Animal Specialist Team with operational and behind‑the‑scenes tasks.

Required profile

• Blue Card (essential) – cost currently $108.30.
• Current Queensland C Class driver’s licence.
• Strong eye for detail and commitment to immaculate standards.
• Genuine passion for marine life and animal welfare.
• High physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, late finishes, weekends and public holidays.
