VMO Physician - General Medicine

About the role

Southern NSW Local Health District is recruiting a VMO Physician in General Medicine for the South East Regional Hospital (SERH) in Bega. The position is classified as Senior Medical Practitioner, is open to full-time or part-time arrangements of up to 20 hours per week, and applications close on 22 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Provide contemporary, comprehensive specialist general physician services for optimal patient outcomes.
• Provide and support training for registrars and junior medical officers to ensure quality education and safe clinical practice.

Required profile

• Registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Physician, or holds an equivalent overseas qualification (Internal Medicine) eligible for the expedited specialist pathway or substantially comparable on the RACP Specialist IMG pathway.
• Demonstrated current clinical experience in General / Acute / Internal Medicine at an appropriate Level 4 health service.
• Understanding of clinical governance principles, including the NSQHS standards.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and lead teams, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical research, simulation and quality improvement.
• Effective communication with patients, colleagues and staff, and with information technology.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency, or a visa allowing independent legal living and working in Australia.
• Category A occupational assessment, screening and vaccination, including proof of influenza vaccination; a Working with Children Check; and compliance with NSW Health policy PD2024_015.
