Victim Response Officer

About the role
The Victim Response Officer provides immediate, trauma‑informed support to victims of violent crime and their families across several Queensland regions. Working within the Victims of Crime Community Response (VOCCR) model, the officer acts as a central point of contact, ensuring victims can access emotional, practical and financial assistance quickly.
Key responsibilities
- Demonstrate and develop cultural capability to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in line with the Human Rights Act 2019.
- Manage referrals for eligible victims and families, delivering triage, brokerage and connections to specialist services.
- Facilitate long‑term recovery referrals and priority assistance, maintaining accurate records.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with government departments and NGOs providing victim services.
- Respond empathetically to victims, promote their rights and ensure access to available services.
- Identify service improvements, share ideas and use data to enhance program delivery.
- Participate in stakeholder networks, meetings and data collection to evaluate program effectiveness.
Required profile
- Commitment to cultural inclusivity and understanding of the Human Rights Act 2019.
- Strong empathy and ability to provide trauma‑informed support.
- Excellent collaboration skills with external agencies and stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset for continuous service improvement and data feedback.
