About the role

Join a dedicated team of veterinarians and nurses providing high‑quality care to companion animals and native wildlife across the Northern Territory and remote communities of North Queensland. You will work in a modern, well‑equipped practice and travel to spectacular, often inaccessible locations to deliver essential veterinary services.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive animal care including feeding, grooming, medical treatment and post‑operative monitoring.
  • Assist with surgeries, perform surgical nursing duties, and manage recovery areas.
  • Maintain clean and safe clinical environments, including instrument sterilisation and waste disposal.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies and handle reception duties.
  • Accompany veterinarians on field visits to remote towns, stations and Aboriginal communities, often staying on‑site for several days.

Required profile

  • Valid driver’s licence (unrestricted manual preferred) and ability to operate 4WD vehicles.
  • Qualifications in veterinary nursing or demonstrable experience in a vet nursing role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with common veterinary software.

Required skills

  • Digital X‑ray operation (table‑based, portable and dental).
  • Ultrasound imaging.
  • Endoscope use.
  • Idexx laboratory equipment.
  • iM3 dental machine.
  • Fluid pumps, pulse oximetry, ECG and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Advanced orthopaedic equipment (e.g., TPLO procedures).
  • Rx Works software.
  • VetCheck software.
