About the role
The Ventilation Engineer will join the Olympic Dam underground mining complex, delivering strategic and technical ventilation solutions that underpin safe and efficient production. Reporting to the Superintendent Ventilation, you will work on one of the world’s largest underground ventilation systems.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with legislative, internal and best‑practice standards for ventilation planning and occupational health & safety.
- Support the development, review and optimisation of ventilation plans for development, production and project activities.
- Participate in monthly, stope & mine‑block, and long‑term planning processes, balancing safety, schedule, reliability and cost.
- Provide alternative solutions and challenge existing practices to improve ventilation system understanding.
- Liaise with technical and operational stakeholders to integrate ventilation into the overall mine plan.
- Contribute to ventilation modelling and major projects such as circuit performance optimisation and Ventsim studies.
Required profile
- Proven experience in underground ventilation engineering within a mining environment.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and internal OH&S standards.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Willingness to work on‑site at Olympic Dam with roster options (8/6, 5/2, 4/3) and FIFO/DIDO arrangements.
