Underground Mining Engineer (Residential, Kalgoorlie)

About the role

Northern Star Resources is looking for a Mining Engineer to join its Technical Services team at the NSR Underground Operations in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. This is a residential role with an 8/6 roster, 12-hour days and a 10-minute commute from town to site. The company offers a generous relocation allowance and a quarterly STI bonus of up to $18K per year, subject to performance, plus premium private health insurance.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high-impact weekly schedules aligned with monthly and quarterly plans.
• Provide clear work instructions for production and ancillary activities, ensuring safety compliance.
• Oversee Drill and Blast QA/QC activities.
• Monitor and report on production schedules and key performance indicators.
• Lead improvement projects to boost efficiency, cut costs and improve best practice.
• Mentor junior engineers and operational teams.
• Support automation and technology initiatives for long-term sustainability.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Current C Class Western Australian driver's licence (manual).
• Experience with Deswik mine design software, able to interpret and apply mining plans.
• Hands-on underground production experience in a mechanised hard-rock mine (planning experience desirable but not essential).
• Leadership, problem-solving and communication skills, and flexibility to evolving standards and regulations.
• Desirable: St Johns Senior First Aid certification and familiarity with the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
• Candidates must meet pre-employment criteria including medical, drug and alcohol screening, right to work and a valid Australian national police clearance.
