Undergraduate Power Generation Application Engineering Internship

About the role

Cummins is offering a 13-month full-time, paid undergraduate internship in Power Generation Application Engineering, based at its Wetherill Park office. It starts on 27 January 2027 and suits students who want to gain hands-on experience while working full time. The successful candidate must defer their studies for the duration of the program.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Power Generation Engineering Team by assisting Power Generation Application Engineers daily on Power Generation projects and product engineering support.
• Analyse proposed installations in compliance with Cummins PG product application manuals.
• Prepare project engineering design and documentation for tender submissions.
• Support new product releases, including compliance audits and reporting.
• Answer technical queries from internal and external customers.
• Produce CAD models such as SLDs and site layouts when required.
• Work in a team with internal and external customers across multiple departments.

Required profile

• Currently studying a degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, ideally at undergraduate level.
• Between 1 and 8 units of study remaining on the undergraduate degree as of January 2027.
• Able to commit to the full 13 months and willing to defer studies.
• Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

Required skills

• Strong results in mathematics and Microsoft Excel; Visual Basic macro experience is favourable.
• Basic understanding of power generation and application.
• Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, initiative and independent thinking.
• Teamwork, communication and stakeholder management.
• Driver's licence is beneficial but not mandatory.
