Tuckshop Convenor (Supervisor)

About the role

St Joseph's Parish School in Weipa is looking for an enthusiastic and organised Tuckshop Convenor to lead the day-to-day running of its busy tuckshop. The role covers all aspects of tuckshop operations, including menu planning, purchasing and ordering stock, and keeping the place welcoming, efficient and compliant with food safety standards. It supports the school's Smart Food Choices environment and contributes to student wellbeing. The position starts in Term 1, 2027, is permanent term-time work of 30 hours per week, and reports directly to the Principal.

Key responsibilities

• Plan menus, order goods from suppliers according to school requirements and manage daily tuckshop operations
• Maintain high standards of management and administration
• Manage the rostering of staff and volunteers, ensuring adequate and essential training and induction
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and the annual tuckshop budget
• Promote the tuckshop on the school Facebook page
• Meet regularly with the Principal on menu development, new products, pricing and equipment maintenance or upgrades

Required profile

• Teamwork, effective communication and knowledge of workplace health and safety
• Mandatory Student Protection training and a current Blue Card
• Willingness to obtain a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Ability to manage and lead staff and volunteers professionally and positively
• Excellent organisational skills, initiative and enthusiasm; support for the Catholic Education ethos and the staff Code of Conduct
• Commitment to a child-safe organisation

Preferred but non-essential criteria

• First Aid qualifications
• Accredited Barista training
• Experience using online rostering software such as Flexischools

• Pay at Services Staff Level 3, $34.17 to $35.62 gross per hour plus 12.75% superannuation
