Training Specialist – Rail Operations (Perth, WA)

About the role

The Training Specialist will partner with operational leaders across Western Australia to build capability and confidence within a specialised rail environment. Reporting to the Learning & Development Manager, you will own the regional operational training function, travel to sites, and act as a trusted coach for frontline crews.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging operational training across WA sites.
• Conduct Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments.
• Coach operational leaders and frontline employees.
• Support onboarding and ongoing workforce capability.
• Maintain training compliance and competency standards.
• Build trusted relationships across operational teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in learning and development practices.
• Plan and coordinate regular travel to operational sites.

Required profile

• Minimum 18 months experience in Australian rail infrastructure, rolling stock or track‑machine operations.
• Proven experience delivering operational training in high‑risk or regulated environments.
• Ability to conduct Verification of Competency assessments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and coaching skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high attention to detail.
• Self‑directed, able to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout Western Australia.
• Australian working rights, current driver’s licence, and ability to complete rail pre‑employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
