Training Officer – Underground Mining

About the role

Glencore is seeking an experienced Training Officer to join the Health, Safety and Training team at Ulan West, a high‑production underground longwall coal mine in NSW. The role supports the delivery and coordination of underground training and competency programs across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development, delivery and assessment of underground training and competency programs.
• Conduct on‑the‑job training and competency assessments aligned with the site Training Needs Analysis.
• Maintain accurate training records and manage Learning Management System (LMS) requirements.
• Manage Permits to Train and monitor progression to competency sign‑off.
• Collaborate with supervisors to ensure crews are trained and authorised for allocated tasks.
• Keep training materials and assessments current with legislation, codes of practice and site procedures.
• Provide practical and technical support to operations, including pre‑starts, toolbox talks and training‑related meetings.
• Support continuous improvement of site training systems and processes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated underground mining and training experience.
• Relevant training and assessment qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of underground mining equipment, practices and competencies.
• Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
