About the role
Join Sims Limited as a Training and Assessment Specialist for Western Australia operations. In this newly created position you will partner with the Regional Operations Manager to design, deliver and continuously improve training programs that support safety, compliance and skill development across the site.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the internal training platform covering induction, onboarding, role‑specific, critical‑risk, compliance and licence management.
- Collaborate with Operations and EHS teams to select appropriate delivery methods (digital, on‑the‑job, buddy systems, classroom).
- Create tailored training materials such as task‑specific packages, video tutorials, pictorial guides and competency assessments.
- Standardise training processes, simplify content and remove duplication to ensure consistency.
- Conduct training needs assessments and build skills and training matrices for each role and business unit.
- Facilitate training sessions directly or coordinate SMEs and external trainers as required.
- Continuously review and improve training processes while ensuring compliance with industry requirements.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar training role, preferably with mobile plant experience in scrap metal, mining or construction.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Proven ability to implement workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational, analytical and time‑management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to prioritise tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
