Trade Cook (Casual)

About the role

Latrobe Regional Health is looking for a Trade Cook to join its Food Services team on a casual basis. The role prepares and delivers high-quality meals for patients, visitors and staff in a busy healthcare environment, within a supportive team. It reports to the Food Services Manager / Executive Chef.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to standard recipes, dietary requirements and food service standards, including special dietary needs
• Assist with meal production, portion control, stock ordering, receipting, storage and stock rotation
• Maintain compliance with food safety legislation, organisational policies and the LRH Food Safety Program
• Monitor food quality, temperature control and storage to ensure safe food handling
• Use resources efficiently, minimise waste and help meet food service KPIs
• Take part in continuous improvement and keep the kitchen clean, safe and organised

Required profile

• Successful completion of an accredited Safe Food Handling course (essential)
• Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and with minimal supervision
• Desirable: trade cooking qualifications, previous food service experience in a health care setting, ordering and inward goods experience, and experience preparing therapeutic diets

Required skills

• Basic maths skills for stock control, ordering and food preparation calculations
• Attention to detail and organisational skills
