Threat Analyst

About the role

This hands‑on cybersecurity operations position is based in Australia and works within a 24/7 Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service. The Threat Analyst will detect, investigate, and respond to advanced threats across endpoints, networks, cloud platforms, and identity systems, helping protect global organizations.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and triage escalated security alerts and incidents across endpoint, network, cloud, and identity environments.
• Perform in‑depth root‑cause analysis, determine attack scope, adversary techniques, and business impact.
• Conduct malware and script analysis, including deobfuscation and behavior identification.
• Support ransomware and advanced intrusion investigations, focusing on credential abuse, persistence, and lateral movement.
• Execute proactive threat‑hunting based on hypotheses and emerging intelligence.
• Correlate data from EDR, SIEM, cloud logs, Windows, Linux, and identity systems to build complete incident narratives.
• Document findings and provide actionable remediation recommendations to clients.
• Contribute to detection‑engineering improvements and playbook refinements.
• Collaborate with senior analysts on high‑severity incidents and participate in a rotating on‑call schedule.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of experience in SOC, MDR, incident response, or related cybersecurity operations.
• Strong background investigating alerts using EDR and SIEM platforms.
• Solid understanding of ransomware tactics, intrusion patterns, and adversary behavior.
• Hands‑on experience with Windows and Linux system analysis, including logs and artifacts.
• Proficiency in deobfuscating scripts and analyzing malware behavior.
• Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework and common adversary techniques.
