Technical Sales Engineer – Telecommunications, Fibre & Data Centres

About the role

A major global technology manufacturer is recruiting a Technical Sales Engineer for its growing Australian operation, based near Epping in Melbourne's northern suburbs. The role suits someone with experience in telecommunications, fibre optics, data centres or network infrastructure who combines technical problem-solving with sales and customer engagement. It is a hybrid, permanent full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities and manage them from initial enquiry through to close
• Build relationships with customers, partners and key stakeholders
• Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions
• Provide pre-sales technical advice, presentations and product demonstrations
• Prepare quotations, proposals and tenders
• Provide ongoing technical and post-sales customer support
• Work closely with Australian and international technical teams
• Travel interstate regularly and occasionally internationally

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, ICT or a related technical discipline
• Experience in technical sales, sales engineering, solutions, applications or business development
• Knowledge of telecommunications, fibre optics, data centres, ICT or network infrastructure
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency with unrestricted working rights
• Experience with optical communications, fibre cabling, data-centre interconnects, structured cabling, network connectivity, connectors, racks or panels is highly regarded
