Technical Sales Engineer – Data Centres

About the role

Johnson Controls seeks a Technical Sales Engineer to act as the primary technical interface for data centre customers across the Pacific region, focusing on chilled water plants, precision cooling, and advanced thermal management solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Act as trusted advisor for data centre cooling and thermal plant solutions, providing guidance on chillers, CRAH/CRAC, and liquid cooling.
• Lead design of chilled water systems, central plant architecture, and integration with BMS, ensuring performance, efficiency (PUE) and lifecycle optimisation.
• Own technical pricing strategy, develop bids, cost models and value propositions, and support commercial negotiations.
• Partner with Strategic Account Managers on major pursuits, influencing early‑stage cooling design and delivering compelling technical proposals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in HVAC/chiller systems and thermal plant solutions, preferably within data centres.
• Proven track record in technical sales, bid management and pricing of complex engineered solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in matrixed, global organisations.

• HVAC and chiller system expertise (air‑cooled, water‑cooled, free cooling).
• Design of chilled water systems and central plant architecture.
• Cost modelling and value engineering for large‑scale projects.
• BMS/controls integration for thermal optimisation.
• Salesforce CRM and pipeline management.
