Technical Instructor - Avionics

About the role

A hands-on training position at RAAF Base Amberley to train and mentor the next generation of maintainers supporting the RAAF's C-27J Spartan fleet. The role suits an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Avionics Technician or Aviation Tradesperson who enjoys teaching and working closely with serving RAAF personnel. Australian citizenship is required because a Defence security clearance is needed.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical training in classroom and practical settings
• Assess student competency and provide coaching and mentorship
• Prepare and deliver training and assessments according to approved training programs
• Maintain and improve courseware, learning materials and training resources
• Maintain accurate training records and documentation
• Work with Defence personnel and industry stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement

Required profile

• Certificate IV Aeroskills (Mechanical or Avionics)
• Highly regarded defence aviation experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA NV1 security clearance
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices and systems
• Certificate IV Training & Assessment (TAE) or equivalent
