Technical Engineer - Civil

About the role

Veolia is looking for a Technical Engineer - Civil to act as its Civil Engineering Specialist. You will provide technical leadership to business development, projects and operations in the civil field, covering projects such as the design and construction of dams, ponds, pads and ground remediation. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to understand their business objectives and set an engineering management approach that delivers safe, compliant and technically suitable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, direct and partner with stakeholders, and work collaboratively with other technical and project management professionals.
• Undertake technology assessments of new concepts to judge their technical feasibility.
• Develop concept designs and all associated basic documentation.
• Write technical specifications and scope of works for tender processes, and evaluate tender responses from a technical perspective to help select contractors.
• Ensure technical solutions meet the Statement of Requirements / Basis of Design and are delivered to the correct standards.
• Manage the budget and programme during project development, report progress to stakeholders and manage external consultants, designers and planners.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
• Extensive demonstrated experience in the technical management of civil infrastructure.
• Experience in pond or dam design and construction is highly regarded.
• Experience managing consultants to perform detailed designs.

Required skills

• Ability to complete concept designs, prepare scope of works and write technical specifications.
• Technical management of civil infrastructure projects.
