Technical Claims Manager – Complex Large Loss Property

About the role

QBE is seeking a senior Technical Claims Manager to lead the Commercial Property, Construction and Engineering Claims team. This newly created position will shape technical standards and mentor specialists across a national portfolio of complex, high‑value property claims.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement structured methods, procedures and on‑the‑job learning programmes for Technical Specialists.
• Provide expert technical support, coaching and guidance to Team Leaders and service managers.
• Set and maintain technical standards and operational governance for large and complex claims.
• Drive continuous improvement and uplift technical decision‑making to deliver cost‑effective outcomes.
• Ensure best‑practice claims management that meets customer, community and commercial expectations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in commercial property claims within a general insurer environment.
• Legal background in first‑party commercial property claims is highly desirable.
• Proven senior technical leadership and ability to influence across national teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of complex property loss assessment.
• Expertise in claims governance and technical standards.
• Ability to design and deliver mentoring and learning programmes.
