Team Leader – Youth Justice Service Centre

About the role

The Team Leader works closely with the manager and specialist staff to oversee daily operations of a youth justice service centre. This position supervises a multidisciplinary team delivering court, casework and restorative justice services to young offenders, their families and victims, aiming to reduce re‑offending.

Key responsibilities

• Provide supervision and guidance on evidence‑based practices, including case management frameworks, risk assessment tools and targeted interventions.
• Allocate, prioritise and quality‑assure tasks in line with departmental procedures and statutory requirements.
• Oversee suicide risk management processes within the service centre.
• Offer timely advice on complex cases to ensure high‑quality youth justice and restorative justice outcomes.
• Participate in strategic and operational planning as a member of the service centre management team.
• Develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify service delivery trends, evaluate client outcomes and contribute to performance reporting.
• Lead recruitment, selection, professional development and culturally appropriate supervision of staff.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience supervising multidisciplinary teams in a youth justice or community care setting.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary, evidence‑based practices for working with young people who offend.
• Commitment to cultural capability, including understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols.
• Ability to contribute to strategic planning and decision‑making processes.
