Team Leader NRM - Vegetation Operations

About the role

Port Macquarie Hastings Council is looking for a Team Leader NRM to join its Vegetation Operations Team. The Natural Resources Team protects, restores and enhances the ecological health of the region, from the hinterland to the coastline. As Team Leader you will manage the invasive weeds team on ground service delivery and give expert environmental advice to internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Natural Resource Management Officers in delivering monthly and annual operational works programs with stakeholder consultation.
• Supervise the day-to-day activities of NRM Field Officers.
• Lead the inspection, identification and management of priority weeds on Council lands under the Biosecurity Act 2015 and Regional Strategic Weed Management Plans.
• Provide expert advice to internal and external customers and collaborate on weed management programs.
• Foster a collaborative workplace through knowledge sharing, staff development and continuous improvement.
• Ensure work complies with WHS, legislation and council policies, and report hazards, incidents and injuries.
• Identify and arrange safety and training requirements for direct reports.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, or at least three years of relevant experience and a commitment to obtaining the qualification.
• Traffic Guidance Officer certificate.
• Current Class 1C driver's licence.
• Recent experience identifying and controlling invasive weeds and native plants common to NSW.

Required skills

• Competence in Microsoft Office software.
• Chemical accreditation at AQF3 level or higher.
