Team Leader Accounting Operations

About the role

The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure is looking for an experienced Team Leader to manage its Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable team within the Accounting Services Branch. This fixed‑term position offers the chance to lead a public‑sector accounting function, ensure accurate financial processing, and support internal and external customers.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team delivering accounts payable and/or receivable services.
• Oversee daily processing, reconciliation, reporting and compliance activities.
• Provide clear, timely advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Interpret and apply relevant policies, procedures and financial guidelines.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure coordinated accounting services.
• Identify issues, propose solutions and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in accounts payable and/or receivable operations.
• Ability to lead and develop a team in a public‑sector environment.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer‑focused attitude.
• Current national police clearance covering criminal, traffic convictions and infringements.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office applications.
