About the role

The Specialist Learning Program – Autism (SLP‑A) at Coodanup College provides individualized, neurodiversity‑affirming support for autistic students at risk of disengagement. As a classroom teacher you will lead a dedicated homeroom, develop tailored learning plans and foster an inclusive environment that promotes academic achievement and essential adaptive skills.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized learning and wellbeing plans for autistic students, focusing on organisational, social, and emotional skills.
• Lead the SLP‑A homeroom, delivering evidence‑based instruction alongside education assistants.
• Apply neurodiversity‑affirming strategies aligned with the National Guideline for supporting autistic children.
• Collaborate with the SLP‑A Program Coordinator and wider school staff to ensure consistent support across all settings.
• Contribute to whole‑school initiatives that promote inclusive practices and recognise each student’s strengths.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with a current registration to teach in Western Australia.
• Demonstrated experience or training in supporting autistic or neurodivergent learners.
• Ability to design and monitor individualized plans and assess student progress.
• Strong collaborative skills to work with education assistants and multidisciplinary teams.
