About the role
The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is seeking qualified teachers to join Tasmanian government schools. Opportunities exist across Hobart, regional and remote communities for primary and secondary levels in subjects such as English, STEM, Humanities, and Health & Physical Education.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and assess curriculum aligned with state standards.
- Foster a safe, inclusive and trauma‑informed classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues on mentoring, professional development and school initiatives.
- Engage with local communities and contribute to school life beyond teaching duties.
Required profile
- Registered teacher qualification accepted in Australia.
- Willingness to work in regional or remote locations, including the North‑West and West Coast.
- Commitment to child safety and evidence‑based practice.
Required skills
- Strong subject knowledge in English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities or Health & PE.
- Ability to apply evidence‑based and trauma‑informed teaching methods.
- Collaborative mindset for mentoring and teamwork.
