Tax Manager – Projects

About the role

You will act as the tax subject‑matter expert on major business and technology transformation initiatives for Asahi. In this 18‑month fixed‑term position you will ensure tax requirements are embedded in project design, testing and implementation, supporting the optimisation of the company’s distribution network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax and tax accounting expertise across strategic projects, embedding tax requirements into design and delivery.
• Support implementation and enhancement of warehouse and transport management solutions while ensuring Australian tax compliance.
• Partner with project teams to optimise and consolidate Asahi’s distribution footprint on the Eastern seaboard.
• Develop and execute tax‑related test scenarios to validate system configurations and processes.
• Identify, investigate and resolve tax‑related system defects and ensure accurate migration of tax data.
• Review business process designs, training materials and operating procedures, offering practical tax advice aligned with commercial objectives.

Required profile

• Experienced finance or tax professional with strong technical knowledge.
• Proven ability to collaborate across functions and analyse large volumes of data.
• Thrives in project environments, delivering precise and commercially‑focused outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience in tax and accounting, including GST and alcohol excise knowledge.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills; capable of working autonomously or within cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• SAP (implementation or upgrade projects)
• Intermediate‑level Excel, comfortable handling large, complex datasets
