Tax Manager

About the role

Acclime is an international professional services firm offering compliance, company secretarial, accounting and bookkeeping services, with clients ranging from ASX listed entities to subsidiaries of offshore companies establishing a presence in Australia. It is looking for a compliance-driven Tax Manager to lead its tax team and oversee high-quality tax compliance services, managing complex tax matters and supporting the development of team capability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the tax compliance team, including team development, training and staff reviews
• Review tax compliance items for clients, such as FBT returns, income tax returns and ESS reporting to the ATO
• Provide general tax advice to clients, including cross-border taxation, and escalate specialist matters to Tax Advisory, Transfer Pricing and R&D Advisory
• Advise Acclime Australia Group management and prepare, review and lodge annual tax and FBT returns
• Support the group and its overseas affiliates on Australian tax matters as needed
• Manage the tax compliance practice, including the annual budget, and liaise with the ATO
• Follow Acclime's low-risk model for R&D services and carry out other ad-hoc duties

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce or law
• CA or CPA qualification, or higher education in tax (CTA or Master of Tax preferred)
• Registered Tax Agent (preferred)
• Minimum 6-8 years of Australian public practice tax compliance experience
• Ability to manage client relationships independently and to lead and mentor team members

Required skills

• Strong technical expertise in Australian taxation legislation
• Knowledge of corporate income tax, income tax and R&D interaction, tax effect accounting, deferred tax, FBT, PAYG instalments, GST and ATO reporting
• Experience preparing and reviewing company tax returns, trust tax returns, tax reconciliations, FBT returns, tax calculations and ATO correspondence
• Proficiency in accounting and tax software and Microsoft Office
