Tax Manager – FinTech (Australia)

About the role

Lead the tax function for a global fintech operating in Australia, providing strategic advice across direct and indirect tax matters while driving governance and transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary tax advisor for the Australian business, covering a broad range of tax issues.
• Oversee tax compliance, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in line with evolving legislation.
• Partner with finance and operational teams to evaluate new commercial activities, transactions and initiatives from a tax perspective.
• Manage relationships with external advisors, regulatory authorities, and respond to audits and information requests.
• Support tax accounting functions, including provision calculations, balance‑sheet reconciliations and reporting obligations.
• Contribute to transfer pricing, international tax and global tax governance projects.
• Drive process‑improvement and automation to strengthen tax controls and operational efficiency.
• Play a key role in finance transformation projects, embedding tax outcomes into systems, billing processes and enterprise‑wide workflows.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Tax or a related field.
• CA/CPA qualification.
• Experience in a Big 4 or mid‑tier tax practice, preferably within a multinational or high‑growth technology environment.
• Ability to translate complex technical tax matters into practical commercial advice.
• Strong understanding of tax risk, governance and compliance frameworks.
• Proven capability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes independently.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
