Tax Accountant

About the role

Ajaka & Co is looking for a motivated Tax Accountant to join its Maroubra‑based advisory team. You will work with a diverse portfolio of individuals, small businesses and multi‑entity groups, delivering high‑quality tax and accounting services in a supportive, high‑growth environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare individual, company, trust, partnership and SMSF tax returns.
• Prepare and review BAS, IAS, GST and other compliance obligations.
• Prepare financial statements and perform reconciliations.
• Support tax planning, structuring and advisory engagements.
• Liaise with clients, the ATO and external stakeholders.
• Assist with accounting workflows and cloud‑based systems (Xero/MYOB).
• Support senior team members on client engagements.
• Contribute to process improvement and efficiency initiatives.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of Australian accounting and tax experience, preferably in public practice.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CA / CPA / ACCA qualification (completed or in progress) is highly regarded.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a client‑focused environment.
