Systems Specialist Software/Standards/Maintenance (AFHQ)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting a Systems Specialist for the Defence project AIR 6002, which delivers a Future Lead-In Fighter System (FLIFS) for the Australian Defence Force. The role works under limited supervision of the VCDF Task Lead and sits within the Air Warfare System Project Office (AWSPO) in conjunction with Air Force Headquarters (AFHQ). It is based at RAAF Base Williamtown, near Newcastle, with Canberra (Russell Offices) possible on a case-by-case basis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the specification for all AIR 6002 software aspects and research the relevant standards for all project elements except facilities
• Generate the Function and Performance Specifications (FPS) for software, standards and maintenance of project elements, excluding facilities
• Develop traceable software and maintenance FPS and artefacts for the FLIFS aircraft platform, simulators, training solutions and LVC training systems
• Draft ASDEFCON Data Item Descriptions (DID)
• Represent VCDF at forums with operators, delivery agents and other stakeholders
• Participate in commercial activities, evaluate and report on tenders, and conduct vendor requirements reviews
• Populate systems engineering databases and present verbal and written reports to committees and boards

Required profile

• Active NV1 security clearance (essential)
• Graduate with an appropriate degree (important)
• Experience in Capability Development, Defence Acquisition and aircraft acquisition (important)
• Ability to travel (desirable); onsite work, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
