Systems Administrator (ASD 4, 5, 6 & EL1)

About the role

The Systems Administrator position is responsible for designing, building, monitoring and managing a wide range of critical IT systems that support mission‑critical operations. The role focuses on agility, security and resilience across operating systems, server infrastructure, high‑performance computing and collaboration platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and support for operating systems, servers, databases and enterprise applications.
• Install, configure and de‑install hardware and software components.
• Manage day‑to‑day workflow, BAU operations and, for senior levels, lead systems‑administration projects.
• Develop and maintain concise technical documentation and knowledge artefacts.
• Identify and contribute to business process improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
• Handle stakeholder relationships, escalated enquiries and provide expert advice on complex administration tasks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in systems administration, with the ability to work independently and make decisions within defined parameters.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the capacity to manage moderately complex to highly complex technical issues.
• Ability to interpret and comply with business processes, legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
• Leadership capability for senior (ASD 6/EL1) roles, including project management and stakeholder engagement.
