System Administrator – Enterprise IT & VMware

About the role

We are looking for an experienced System Administrator to join our Melbourne team. The role focuses on maintaining enterprise IT infrastructure, VMware virtualization platforms, and supporting the Service Desk to ensure high availability and security.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments and enterprise infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter platforms.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to achieve high uptime.
• Provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support for infrastructure incidents and service requests.
• Collaborate with the IT Service Desk to resolve escalated issues within agreed SLAs.
• Perform server patching, upgrades, backups, and disaster‑recovery activities.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and Active Directory administration.
• Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, storage, and network issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational procedures.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to implement infrastructure improvements and best practices.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of experience as a System Administrator or Infrastructure Engineer.
• Strong hands‑on experience with VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
• Experience supporting enterprise IT Service Desk operations.
• Valid Australian work rights; candidates requiring RGS for visa extension are eligible.

Required skills

• Windows Server administration and Active Directory.
• Linux server administration (preferred).
• Server monitoring, backup, and recovery solutions.
• Networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
• Scripting with PowerShell or Bash.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (preferred).
• ITIL Foundation certification (advantage).
