Surface Water Operator – Dams (North)

About the role

Water Corporation is looking for a dedicated Surface Water Operator to manage and maintain dam infrastructure and water‑treatment processes across its northern sites. The role is based at the Kelmscott Depot and includes both daytime duties and after‑hours on‑call support.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain water and chemical treatment processes to meet quality and quantity targets.
• Conduct regular inspections, maintenance and repairs of dam structures, outlet works, gates, valves and recreation facilities.
• Perform site surveillance, stream and reservoir sampling, and catchment‑area monitoring to protect water quality.
• Coordinate daily optimisation of treatment processes, analyse performance data and resolve faults.
• Participate in a 9‑day fortnight roster, providing 24 × 7 incident response and after‑hours patrols.

Required profile

• Dedicated and proactive attitude with a strong safety focus.
• Willingness to work a rotating roster that includes evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team across multiple remote sites.

Required skills

• Operation of water production and chemical treatment systems.
• Inspection, maintenance and operation of dam outlet structures, gates, valves and screens.
• Water quality sampling and monitoring of streams, reservoirs and catchment areas.
• Basic mechanical maintenance and fault‑finding on treatment equipment.
