Structural Engineering Discipline Manager

About the role

This role leads structural engineering delivery for complex mining, minerals processing and energy projects, reporting to the Engineering Manager. It combines hands-on engineering with team leadership, mentoring and disciplined resource planning. The manager takes ownership of technical standards, design assurance and practical, constructable solutions across steel, concrete and hybrid structures.

Key responsibilities

• Direct structural design and assurance for steel, concrete and hybrid structures
• Review, verify and approve calculations, reports, specifications and design deliverables
• Enforce compliance with legislation, codes, standards and project requirements
• Develop engineers, allocate resources and support project schedules and budgets
• Advance engineering standards and deliver practical, constructable solutions
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and resolve technical issues with clients and vendors

Required profile

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia
• 15+ years' structural design and project delivery experience in mining, minerals processing, resources or heavy industry
• Proven leadership as a Discipline Manager or Principal Engineer, with strong team development capability
• Advanced structural design knowledge and practical command of industry standards and codes
• Strong planning, stakeholder communication and ability to turn client requirements into engineering outcomes
• All applicants must hold permanent residency or citizenship within Australia
