Strategic FP&A Manager

About the role

Reporting directly to the VP of Commercial, the Strategic FP&A Manager will shape both the operational and long‑term financial direction of Australia’s leading online pet retailer. This senior position moves beyond routine reporting to deliver strategic financial storytelling for the Executive Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain and own dynamic financial models for scenario planning, stress‑testing and risk/return analysis.
• Translate complex financial data into clear strategic narratives that support commercial planning.
• Lead the annual, 3‑year and 5‑year strategic planning cycles, aligning inputs with cross‑functional partners.
• Design and execute agile rolling forecasts that adapt to macro‑economic shifts, performance trends and customer behaviour.
• Oversee end‑to‑end financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and strategic focus.
• Identify P&L opportunities or risks and provide proactive commercial recommendations.
• Champion AI and automation tools to streamline data extraction, variance analysis and presentation creation.
• Mentor a junior Strategy/Business Analyst to optimise board reporting and governance timelines.

Required profile

• Proven senior FP&A leadership experience, preferably in a fast‑growing e‑commerce environment.
• Strong analytical and storytelling abilities to explain "why" financial results occurred.
• Experience integrating AI or advanced automation into finance processes.
• Demonstrated capability to mentor and develop junior analysts.
