STEM Experience Officer

About the role

The STEM Experience Officer will deliver hands‑on science experiences that inspire curiosity and learning for visitors to SparkLab, the interactive science centre of Queensland Museum. Working in a public‑facing environment, you will facilitate exhibits, live demonstrations and inquiry‑based activities for families, school groups, early learners and adults.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate STEM exhibits, live demonstrations and investigations for diverse audiences.
• Support day‑to‑day operation of SparkLab, including exhibit presentation, safety checks and visitor flow management.
• Develop and deliver curriculum‑linked programs and school‑visit activities.
• Collect visitor feedback and contribute to continuous improvement of the experience.
• Maintain equipment, manage stock and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Required profile

• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Experience in education, science communication or museum engagement.
• Ability to adapt scientific concepts for a range of ages and learning styles.
• Team‑oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate across the museum.
