Staff Specialist – Geriatric Medicine

About the role

The successful applicant will join the Aged Care Department at Royal Hobart Hospital, providing specialist diagnosis, treatment and care for older patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes participation in after‑hours rosters, teaching programmes and quality‑improvement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive geriatric assessments and manage acute and sub‑acute older patients across three Hobart sites.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinics (memory, falls, movement disorders) and telehealth consultations.
• Contribute to teaching undergraduate, postgraduate and allied‑health students.
• Engage in research and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Holds current specialist registration in Geriatric Medicine (or equivalent IMG pathway).
• Commitment to personal and professional development and interdisciplinary clinical care.
• Willingness to partake in on‑call and after‑hours duties.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in geriatric medicine, including acute, sub‑acute and community care.
• Experience with multidisciplinary team collaboration and telehealth delivery.
