Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack (React, Next.js, Node.js, .NET)

About the role

The Commonwealth Bank is hiring a Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack for its Customer Service Network team, within Assisted Technology. The team is reimagining how branch colleagues support customers, building capabilities such as intelligent concierge, agentic appointment booking, customer-intent capture, skills matching and smarter branch operations. The role brings deep full-stack expertise across TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, APIs and cloud to define architecture and build modern services at scale, with AI, agentic capabilities and LLM-powered services central to the engineering strategy.

Required profile

• Deep systems thinking and end-to-end architecture experience across interconnected environments
• Full-stack engineering breadth, ideally TypeScript, React, Next.js and Node.js, able to support legacy technologies where needed
• Experience delivering cloud-native, distributed systems covering APIs, event-driven architectures, SDKs, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability and complex integrations
• Ability to turn ambiguous business problems into clear technical options and architecture, and to lead large-scale modernisation of legacy environments
• Strong integration engineering experience, especially with authentication, identity, biometrics, NFC or hardware-to-software integration
• Practical use of AI-powered and agentic tools across the software lifecycle
• Secure-by-design, resilient and observable production engineering, with technical leadership and mentoring
