Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack, React, Next.js)

About the role

CommBank is building next‑generation digital experiences for Business Banking and is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of cloud‑native, data‑driven platforms. The role sits within the Customer Channel & Data domain and works on customer‑facing channels, CRM tools, AI‑enabled services and core platform capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, resilient software solutions across customer channel and data platforms.
• Build and evolve applications, APIs, services and platform capabilities that support critical Business Banking experiences.
• Drive architectural decisions, influence engineering direction and champion modern practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, observability and DevSecOps.
• Partner closely with product managers, architects, data specialists and business stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes.
• Mentor engineers, grow technical capability across the organisation and support platforms in production.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering complex software solutions in large‑scale or distributed environments.
• Strong hands‑on engineering ability with a passion for solving challenging technical problems.
• Experience building cloud‑native applications, APIs, platforms or data‑driven services.
• Track record of influencing technical direction, architecture and engineering standards.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and uplift capability across teams.
